Amber Gilsdorf
Director of College Planning

Amber Gilsdorf joined the Estrela team in 2016 with a nine-year background as a school counselor at Granville High School, one of the top performing public schools in Ohio. During her time as a school counselor, Amber conducted countless college planning meetings with families and students, implemented a countywide college fair, and delighted in each students’ joy at being accepted! Amber earned her College Counseling Certificate from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2014 which served to deepen her love of guiding families and students through the college search and application process.

Amber is an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). She is also a Professional Member of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), the Ohio School Counselor Association (OSCA), and the National and Ohio Associations for College Admission Counseling (NACAC and OACAC).

She has presented at many state and one national conference on topics related to improving the college search process for students. She has also conducted annual guest lectures for classes within The Ohio State University’s Counselor Education program and sat on the Advisory Board for Otterbein University.  

She earned her B.A. in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University and her M.A. in School Counseling from The Ohio State University.

Amber lives in Central Ohio with her husband, her son, and twin black cats. When she is not hanging with her family or supporting students, Amber reads prolifically and indulges her love of football and movies.
