Jamie Kirby joins the Estrela team from Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus, where she served as a school counselor for nine years and Department Chair for four. Prior to Bishop Watterson, she was the school counselor at Fisher Catholic High School in Lancaster (OH) for six years.  During her time as a school counselor, she worked with hundreds of students and families through the college search and application process, presented at parent meetings, served as part of the building leadership team, and met with college representatives from around the country (representatives from more than 100 colleges visit Bishop Watterson each year!). These experiences have sparked her love for the college admissions process and helping students find their fit.

Jamie grew up in Huron, OH. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Sociology and Computer Applications, and was also a member of the Notre Dame marching band.  She earned an M.A. in Counselor Education from The Ohio State University, and has taken numerous post-graduate courses in college counseling through UCLA’s College Counseling program and UC Irvine’s Independent Educational Consultant Program.  In the summer of 2022, she earned a Certified Advisor badge through the National College Attainment Network.  She is a licensed school counselor in the state of Ohio and has also earned an American School Counselor Association College Admissions Specialist certificate.  She is a member of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), Ohio School Counselor Association (OSCA), and the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling (OACAC).

Jamie lives in central Ohio with her husband and dog.  She has coached swimming at many levels, from young children through high school, including a boys 200 Free relay team that won an Ohio high school state championship in 2018!  In her free time, she enjoys swimming, running, biking, and triathlons.  She loves watching sports, particularly college football, and also enjoys spending time crafting.
